ABOUT SAFIA
Safia is a 22 year-old Event Rider who is currently based in the South West. She is competing up to Advanced.
Safia was riding before she could walk, and it was a surprise to no one that she has never stopped. Upon completing her A-levels and a Diploma in Sporting Excellence, Safia declined her offer to read Biomedical Sciences at University, to pursue her dream of becoming a professional rider.
Safia has been Eventing since she was 11 years old, building on her success within British Eventing and The Pony Club. In 2017, she was selected to represent the South West region at the Under 18 National Championships.
Safia has always been an ambitious rider, competing at the British Young Rider (Under-25) Championships (CCI3*-L) at the age of 17, and riding in her first Advanced competition a few months later.

In 2019, Safia was selected for the BEF Young Professional Programme. This has given her invaluable insight into what is needed to make horses work as a career and a business.

In 2019, she relocated to work for and train with Harry Meade at his base in West Littleton, Gloucestershire. Here, she gained invaluable experience in running a successful yard and learning how to produce horses correctly through the grades, in a sympathetic manner.

In 2021 Safia then moved to work for Irish Olympic rider Padraig McCarthy, and his wife Lucy, a successful British international rider, at their yard in Devon. Their breeding programme enabled Safia to further her insight into the producing and backing of young horses. She also gained further knowledge into the business of buying and selling horses.

In 2022, Safia was given the opportunity to set up her own yard, within Sam Griffiths yard in Dorset. Here she has her own self contained barn, with access to all of the facilitates as well as Sam’s mentorship.
